What started as a drafty 1970s lakeside cabin has been transformed into a cozy, all-electric retreat—and BC’s first CHBA Net Zero Renovation. The owners wanted a space that felt modern and welcoming, while dramatically improving the home’s performance and efficiency. With new Passive House-certified windows and doors, upgraded insulation, and no reliance on natural gas, this cabin is now a year-round escape that balances sustainability with style.
High Performance, Low Impact
To bring this cabin up to Net Zero standards, we replaced all windows and doors with EuroLine’s 4700 Series Passive House models and added BASF’s Neopor insulation to the exterior. AeroBarrier air sealing helped achieve impressive airtightness, reducing heat loss and energy demand. With no natural gas on site, the home now runs entirely on electric systems, supported by a classic wood-burning fireplace for added warmth and ambiance.
The Future Of Renovation
This project is the first of its kind in BC to be labeled a CHBA Net Zero Renovation, setting a benchmark for sustainable upgrades in older homes. Inside, the finishes are simple and modern—clean lines, natural textures, and smart lighting bring a sense of calm and function to the space. It’s a shining example of how energy efficiency and timeless design can go hand in hand.ng.
